Single & Album Update
The forthcoming single from the new The Mark Of Cain album, and the first new material in over 10 years is to be delayed release until October 2011. The setback has come due to a delay in production of the accompanying video. The single release means that the album, Songs of the Third & Fifth, has also been delayed and now won't be released until January/February 2012. The band apologise for the delay but want their first release in 10 years to be everything it should.
In better news, the album has just been mastered at Sterling Sound in New York and sounds fantastic. Nine songs in total with all the true TMOC elements in place and then some. As John says, it is the best material the band have ever produced.
And for those that have asked both Battlesick and The Unclaimed Prize are now back on the shelf and available via mailoder from www.feelpresents.com or at any good record store. If the store dosen't have them let them know they are available via Fuse distribution. Both albums will also be released on itunes within 2 weeks. Stay tuned.

Songs Of The Third & Fifth
-
In early 2008 brothers John and Kim Scott met up with drummer John Stanier in Adelaide, after his band, Battles completed the national Big Day Out tour. The trio entered Broadcast Studio to begin work on their fifth studio LP. In 2011, after years of writing, recording, finding time around day jobs, day-to-day life and refining across continents, Songs Of The Third & Fifth is almost ready to be released.
Produced by the band, recorded in Adelaide and mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Cog, Birds Of Tokyo) in Melbourne, Songs Of The Third & Fifth will be The Mark Of Cain's first release in ten years.
The first single will be released digitally in August, the album towards the end of the year. There are plans for the band to tour nationally early 2012.
"It's been a hard couple of years and I never expected the album to take so long to complete but we are now coming to its final moments before it is thrust into the world for better or worse. Most musicians always think/say that their most recent recording is their best – I can understand that as it's the most tangible piece of art they've been close to, but also, I know in my heart that this album is the best thing we have ever done." Battlesick wasn't meant to be some sort of glorification of war, or even necessarily to have any military basis at all. All it meant was weariness of battle, weariness in life and just being tired of the endless battles that go on in life.
